Wow! What a lead! What a phrasing. What a tone. Absolutely superb. But the fabulous bass and drums are no less important providing not only a solid but also beautiful foundation to this masterpiece. Bravo!

What a SUPER First listen of the Day!!! Rob, you REALLY smoked this one out and "SLINK" is a perfect title, with the backing you set up. The rhythm section you laid down is so smooth. Your lead just floored me, man!! EXCELLENT and as Gabe says....LOVE that tone!! Rob

Surfnorthwest (02 Nov 2008 09:15 AM)
This one smokes, very sweet guitar leads over a gental backing track. I think any comment I could give is to give the listener a few breaks in the solo the catch their breath and appreiciate the overall track.

What a nice surprise to wake up to. Man I love your playing Robert. Love the resolves in every phrase. Classic Robert Smith tone (did you patent it yet? ). All around sweet work my friend. Gonna take this for another spin !!!! Gabriel

RIght! Funk a la Hendrix or Trower - THAT sort of funk! Fantastic guitars, really top notch work here. Only thing that I would love to hear is a bit more variety on the drums there - with that incredible guitar rhythm the drums could be just that little bit looser or less quantized if its a sequence track - still, that guitar is howling into my brain. Fantastic! Thanks for the listen, Chris

Once again another solid backing with some fine guitar work. Excellent piece well done
User Image
DuRod (02 Nov 2008 05:37 AM)
Oh yea babe!! The guitar is talkin' real sweet and the bass accents it perfect. Drums are up front but not too much. Awesome piece, very nice. Ear candy for sure.

Excellent tone and playing! I dig the way you keep throwing that open string (E ?) in as a filler between riffs, very precise and cool! Definitely a song sit back and listen to turned up loud. Nice one! Farrell

man your guitar playing just blows me away Rob. That clean guitar sitting in the back is just killer sounded. Add those distorted guitar and it just completes the picture. Stellar!!

Ab1 (02 Mar 2008 03:49 AM)
is this the remix? sounds different in a few places so it must be.. it really has some varied sections in this one.. like the mix of clean and mad distorted guitars.. this version is much more complete.. longer.. it couldn't be much stronger.. the only thing missin was more.. more of your excellence and consumate guitar playing.. this has beaucoup passion.. it's not shredding to me.. it's much more melodic and personal.. i think the ending is cool.. not abrupt like before.. glad you finished it rob.. sounding great brother.. :-)

Damn Robert, you never seize to amaze me. Killer tune and the playing is just FINE!!! Smooth as silk and and has the Classic Robert Melody lines. I love the fact that you map out your guitar lines rather than just aimlessly flying around the fretboard. Great job my friend!!!!

You're not the guy from The Cure? Great guitar tone by the way. I love the open string drop and the sweep picking is clean as a whistle. I just dont know what happen, It stops abruptly, maybe its intentional. Anyway, Keep it up.

selftort (28 Feb 2008 08:38 PM)
Killer playing on this one. I thought initially it was going to be a slowish blues but then it grew into a really melodic funk jam. Nice combination of guitar tones. Agree with everyone else....you can't just leave us hanging there. There must be more to come and I can't wait to hear it. Great work.

turned up the distortion on this baby it sounds like rob.. but then it gets cleaner.. lol.. i know that mean growler is coming back though.. there he is wailing.. in places too fast to understand what he's playing.. as mike said.. a fine start.. it cuts out in the middle of nowhere.. was that it?... 2nd listen.. like that clean melodic section to set up your flight.. sounding great my friend.. and I feel ya.. can't wait to get back on my axe with something new.. all these toys to play with.. tones for jones bones.. just put an ending on it for us willya?.. lol.. look forward to mrs. final mix.. cheers..

I think you're getting better every time I hear you Rob. Seems there's no stopping you now you have that sweet distorted tone going. You always get such good structure to your playing with a theme to offset the improvised sections.Enjoyed a lot.

Hi Pete - thats my POD TONE!!!! (LOL,LOL,LOL). I actually put it together for a bit of a jazzy sound but it works fine in this style. I can send you the set up if you like! This tune was just for Rob, and I just wanted to express a certain feel. This is what came out. I've got nothing on Christer! I'll go pull my head in now. Rob

Just heard this again on the radio. I had to check it wasn't Christer playing and I mean that as a compliment to both of you. Did he send you the secret POD tone? I know you've said that he has influenced your playing and that shows here.

All the guys who hang out at Guitar Cenetr need to take a lesson from you, my friend. You know the type. Go to GC any day, any week, any hour of the day, and it sounds like the same guys are there playing the same mega metal distorted garbage. This song kicks you in the groin without all the distractions. Solid, powerful. Love this instrumental a lot, and I'm sure Rob will enjoy this, too. Goes to show you don't need a wall of Marshalls cranked to 14 to get your message heard (and with feeling!). Nice work.

Man ohhh Man.. Rob.. that TONE! so freakin smooth and liquid. You have a sense of the angular yet melodic aproach to layin down the lead trax in your tunes. Your gifts are so very apparent here in this song. An ear for construction and design.. and the sublime sense of what is what makes this a great listen..
